Hey, I'm Dan.
Beard. Tattoos. Hoodie, sometimes. I'm not what you picture when you think "mortgage broker", and that's kind of the point.
Before I was a mortgage broker, I spent about eight years as a lawyer and three years in finance recruitment. Both taught me how confusing property and finance can feel, and how much easier it gets when someone explains it properly.
Buying property is huge, and most of the finance world makes it feel harder than it is. I'm here to change that: straight answers, plain English, and someone in your corner from the first chat to well beyond settlement.
How I got here.
About 8 years
Commercial lawyer
I started out in personal injury insurance law, then moved into intellectual property litigation. Years of reading fine print and untangling complicated stuff for other people. Then Covid came along and I got made redundant.
About 3 years
Finance recruiter
I helped out at my parents' coffee shop, meeting and greeting the regulars. Then an opportunity came up to move into recruitment in finance and insurance. I was placing mortgage brokers into roles
2 years and counting
Mortgage broker
There isn't much bigger of a process than buying property. I was always into property and finance, and I'd bought a few places myself. Why not help others do the same?
Why millennials and first home buyers.
I focus on millennials and first home buyers because I know how hard it is to get into the market. Deposits, government schemes, extra costs, what even is a pre-approval? It's a lot.
Working with people to get their foot in the door is extremely rewarding. It's the best part of my job.

Not just any broker.
Most brokers are generalists who help anyone with anything. I've picked a lane. I help people getting into property, and I make sure they're set up properly for it.
My legal background helps too. I'm used to taking complicated information and explaining it simply, and that's most of the job.

The beard is real, the tattoos are real, and the cartoon on the logo is based on a photo of me. A mate cleaned it up and turned it into the logo you see here. I'm not hiding any of it behind a suit and tie.
